Jakobskirken is designed by the architects Lars, Gerda and Jørgen Hartmann Petersen. A church hall, a number of meeting rooms for communal purposes and offices are adjacent to the church.
The church was built from 1972-74 and consecrated on 14th April 1974.
Pulpit, communion table and font are designed by the architect Jørgen Hartmann Petersen. The altarpiece is made by the sculptor, Hein Heinesen. The organ is built by the firm of Jensen and Thomsen, and had 16 stops on inaugaration. In 1991 it was enlarged by the same firm to 25 stops. The organ has French sleepers and is ideal for baroque as well as romantic music.
