The ruins of Skt. Laurentii Kirke, The church of Sct. Lawrence, Stændertorvet, was built about 1125 A.D. of travertine from the underground of Roskilde. About 1550 A.D. the church was pulled down.

Only the tower was left, and is today the tower of the Town Hall. The ruins are preserved about 2 metres under the Town Hall Square. After restoration the beautiful red and black clay tile floor and mediaeval fixtures of the church can be seen. Archaelogical finds from the excavations are also exhibited.
