The church was built in about 1125 of travertine from the town“s springs. About 1550 the church was pulled down. The tower was left standing and is today the tower of the Town Hall. The ruins are preserved about 2 metres below the present street level. The walls remain as well as the fantastic red and black clay tile floor. Some mediaeval fixtures from the Middle Ages also remain. Archaeological finds from the excavations are exhibited.
