The exhibitions of the museum illustrate the cultural landscape, history and national importance of Gl. Lejre from the pagan chieftain seat and the legends about the Lejre kings to the national meetings in Lejre in the 19th century. The exhibitions comprise works by comtemporary artists and Gl. Kongsgård, a 300-year-old copyhold farmhouse with original furniture and garden. Lejre Museum is a branch of Roskilde Museum. School and group visits by appointment all year. The main museum is in Hestbjerggård, a 150-200-year-old thatched farm, overlooking the large stone ships. Gl.
